*this is just one of my everyday moments....life is so full of them.  i don't ever want to forget.*

Outside my window...heat.  so much heat.  phew.
I am thinking...
that a group of kids laughing and having fun with each other may be one of the best sounds ever.
I am thankful for...
family.
From the kitchen...
a fresh batch of laundry detergent, lol!  yep.  it's time.
I am wearing...
workout clothes, of course ;)
I am creating...
a grocery list for my Monday shopping trip

I am going...to enjoy time with my cousin and her children today
I am reading...
a magazine full of information about Labrador Retrievers and what to expect when we finally get ours!
I am hoping...
that we get some rain soon....I'm hoping twice for this one, it's incredibly dry out there. ( just no rain in the form of tropical weather, please)
I am hearing...
the humming of the air conditioner
Around the house...
floors need to be vacuumed and mopped
One of my favorite things...

friday

lll

Outside my window...it's still quite dark as i begin contemplating the day ahead
I am thinking...
about our friends who will visit today and how the kids are looking forward to playing together
I am thankful for...
coffee that is ready when i get out of bed.  really.
From the kitchen...
today it will be snack foods...a treat for our playdate
I am wearing...
pajamas
I am creating...
a few things on photoshop this morning
I am going...
to workout first, then some last minute picking-up in the house
I am reading...
quotes - i love to read quotes
I am hoping...
that we get some rain soon
I am hearing...
not one single sound.
Around the house...
laundry is piled.  that's what i get for taking yesterday off :-/
One of my favorite things...
this morning- the moment of silence as dawn is breaking and my children are well and sleeping.

everyday.

everyday.

walking.
one hour.
as fast as i can manage.
i can definitely see that you must spend energy in order to make energy.
two months ago i was near death after only 15 {long} minutes, today one hour seems to fly by and i feel amazing afterward. it definitely does a body good.
*******

Outside my window...where my hubby and i sit on the porch and talk our way into the day ahead
I am thinking...about my car in the shop
I am thankful for...my husband being home today
From the kitchen...coffee and waffles with yogurt and organic strawberries - yum!
I am wearing...workout clothes
I am creating...a new me
I am going...to pick my car up from the shop...yay!
I am reading...a few of my favorite blogs this morning
I am hoping...that some friends will be able to visit on Friday
I am hearing...James Morrison...i could honestly listen to this man's voice all day.
Around the house...things are moving at a slower pace with my hubby home...it's so nice.
One of my favorite things...
my ipod crammed full of upbeat songs for walking

okay...here's the deal. inspiration has been so hard for me to find lately. i have lost it almost completely. i know i'm just in a creative slump, so i'm going to be proactive about this for a bit. i'm going to try to post something each day with my focus being on the little things, the here and now, the mindful moments that i'm committed to absorbing. the messes, the food, the laughter, the living....

this morning.

Outside my window...early morning sun peeking through the trees
I am thinking...of being more mindful of my everyday and finding inspiration in the small things
I am thankful for...this morning's peace and quiet
From the kitchen...a hot cup of coffee to get my day started
I am wearing...workout clothes
I am creating...a new mental picture of priorities so that i can create again
I am going...to workout then hang my camera 'round my neck to make sure i focus on being more mindful today
I am reading...Sookie Stackhouse book #5, Dead as a Doornail and Women, Food, and God.
I am hoping...that autumn comes early this year
I am hearing...this song playing in the background and nothing else.
Around the house...chores await and school items need to be reorganized before September
One of my favorite things...right now - homemade hummus and whole wheat pitas.  everyday.

Baby Session #2

I had a great time with this little guy. He was wide awake for most of the session, but the shots I captured once he settled into sleep were my favorites. I love the details of babies...so perfect in every way.

silence.

Silence is a source of great strength.  ~Lao Tzu

"Silence is a source of great strength." ~Lao Tzu

silence is something i seem to be full of lately.
very little blogging, chatting, commenting, participating....

sometimes a period of silence is just what one needs in order to observe and hear the tiny whispers whirling all around.

silent observation of one's own life and the direction in which it is going, silent observation of the lives of others and reconciling the 'walking' with the 'talking,' silence that enables one to move inward and grow and become stronger...

sometimes silence is absolutely the only thing that will do.

it is, indeed, a source of great strength....and of growth.

summer

♥

summer.
warm, or in our case, downright h.o.t.!
line dried clothes when the humidity! doesn't keep them damp all day.
cold fruits and salads and homemade ice cream.
bare feet, chlorine, ponytails.
ice water to drink.
chips and salsa for snack everyday.
swimming pool and sprinkler to stay cool.

mmmm!

evening walks and morning workouts.
sundresses and new sandals.
trips to the water park.
vacation planning.
vacation anticipation!
reading in the lawn chair while soaking up some rays.
sunglasses permanently attached to my head
fresh blueberries, fresh figs
freckled skin and highlighted hair
laughter from playing children
lots of sleep from really tired children

that is summer to me.
i hope your summer days are wonderful, too!

my first baby session!

A couple of weeks ago I had my very first baby photo session!  I was very nervous about the setup and poses and angles, but it worked itself out over our 3 hour session.  I am pleased with the final results, and find that I love black and white photography of babies....it's just so fresh and clean and simple.   I'm in the process of editing my second baby session now - I could definitely get used to this!  :)
